What is EMDR therapy?

EMDR therapy, which stands for Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing, is helpful for healing because it is a structured therapy approach that helps individuals process traumatic memories and experiences. EMDR therapy involves recalling distressing events while focusing on an external stimulus like hand tapping or eye movements, which helps the individual reprocess the memories in a less distressing way. This process can lead to a decrease in the intensity of the traumatic memories and their associated symptoms, allowing the individual to heal and move forward.

Ongoing research supports positive clinical outcomes, showing EMDR therapy as a helpful treatment for disorders such as anxiety, depression, OCD, chronic pain, addictions, and other distressing life experiences (Maxfield, 2019).

β€œOn behalf of the entire team at Placid Soul Counseling, I would like to extend our deepest gratitude for the grant that funded our recent Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) training funded by AAFRF, a non-profit organization that promotes awareness around EMDR therapy for first responders. Thanks to your generous support, our team has been able to develop essential skills and knowledge in this effective therapeutic approach.

The training has not only equipped us with the expertise to better serve our clients, especially those dealing with trauma and other challenging experiences, but it has also enhanced our overall capabilities as mental health professionals. The impact of this training extends far beyond our team; it directly benefits the individuals and communities we are privileged to support.

Your belief in our work and investment in our training will undoubtedly make a lasting difference in the lives of those we serve. We are sincerely grateful for the opportunity to grow and improve our practice through this grant.

Thank you once again for your invaluable support.”

Warm regards,
